To ensure the health and safety for you, all of our visitors, and our staff and volunteers, new enhanced health and safety protocols are implemented throughout our museum.

Per the city of Santa Monica guidelines and L.A. County Department of Public Health, we have implemented the following:

  • All visitors over age 2 and staff to wear a mask while inside the Museum
  • Reduced capacity to allow for safe social distancing among visitors and staff
  • Ensure 6 feet of space between you, your group, and others
  • Hand sanitizer stations are available throughout the building and at all gallery entries and exits
  • Interactive surfaces are wiped frequently
  • Non-field trip groups will be limited to a maximum of 10 people
  • Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination and valid photo ID upon entry to the museum*

*Visitors attesting to qualifying medical or religious exemptions may supply proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test within 72 hours and valid photo ID.

Acceptable forms of proof of vaccination include:

  • COVID-19 vaccination card
  • Photo of a vaccination card (both sides)
  • Documentation of vaccination from a licensed healthcare provider
  • Personal digital COVID-19 vaccine record issued by the State of California, Los Angeles County, or similar documentation issued by another state or jurisdiction. California residents can visit myvaccinerecord.cdph.ca.gov to download a QR code to be kept on your phone

An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public space where people are present. We cannot guarantee you will not be exposed to COVID-19 during your visit. Those visiting the SMHM do so at their own risk of such exposure.

If you are not feeling well, check the CDC website for coronavirus symptoms and we recommend that you wait to come visit us when you are feeling better. We will be here when you are!
